The Museum has partnered with the Montgomery Art Guild (MAG) to present a biennial exhibition of contemporary regional art in its galleries since 1960. We are pleased to welcome the art and artists of the 44th exhibition to the Museum this summer. The 2021 exhibition promises to contain an exciting variety of media, subjects, and themes, representing the “best of the best” artists within our River Region. During the MMFA/MAG exhibit's 61 year history, many of the works submitted have been selected by the show's juror for award honors. This year $13,500 will be offered in cash awards.
More than a decade ago, the MAG Board of Directors and the MMFA began a tradition of selecting a guest artist whose work would be showcased in a solo exhibit to run concurrently with the juried exhibition. This practice honors the selected artist's past and current work, successes and achievements. The artwork presented in the solo exhibition may be current or retrospective, offering musuem-goers glimpses of history and new work surprises while furthering the Museum's dedication to art education.
This year's guest artist is painter Marguerite Edwards. To learn more about our featured artist, click the Guest Artist tab above.
