Submission Guidelines
General Requirements
- Artist submits digital image(s) of their work via the online submission process.
- The juror will select art for the exhibition from the digital images. She will select award winners after viewing the artwork at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.
- Paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, photographs, computer graphics, and mixed-media are eligible.
- Artists may enter no more than five works.
- Size (height x width x depth) may not exceed 15 feet, including the frame and any base that is attached to a sculpture. Maximum weight is 150 pounds.
- Art must be original and be completed in 2019, 2020, or 2021. Art shown in prior MAG or MMFA exhibitions is not eligible. Artwork submitted in the 2020 Regions Bank Show is eligible. Artists may not substitute for accepted artworks. No Gicleé reproductions of original art in another medium will be permitted (for example, no Gicleé prints of oils, acrylics, watercolors, etc.).
- Art must be finished, dry, framed or gallery wrapped, and suitable for display. Any entry the MMFA considers offensive, shows sign of insect infestation or activity, or that does not meet exhibition criteria will be rejected. NOTE: If the Museum sees any sign of insect activity (current or past) when it is physically in the building (i.e., has already been juried in), the artist will be required to immediately retrive it and the work will be disqualified from the exhibition.
- No additional work may be done on a piece of artwork after the submission of the work. If your artwork is accepted into the show, and you work on it after the submission process, your artwork will be pulled from the exhibition at take in.
- If your artwork is selected for the exhibition, it must be the artwork that was submitted for entry. No substitutions are allowed.
- Art must be labeled to match information on the registration form, which will be used for the catalogue. Tags for your work may be given to you by MAG when you deliver your work to the Museum.
- Images of art selected for the show may be used for promotional purposes by MAG and/or MMFA.
- Artist statements (one page max, no more than 200 words) are requested when the art is delivered.
Digital Image Requirements
- Images should represent the art as accurately as possible.
- Submit one image per two-dimensional entry; two images per sculpture entry.
- The photo of your entry must be taken from the front, 300 ppi, and be submitted in one of the following file formats: .JPG, .PNG, or .GIF. The submission must be between 2500 pixels and 4600 pixels on its longest side (that is, it can be no smaller than 2500 pixels on its longest side, and no larger than 4600 pixels on the longest side). The maximum file size for an image is 4 mb.
- All entries must be submitted at www.magatmmfa44.artcall.org.
